Smoky BBQ Chicken

1 teaspoon
smoked paprika
1 teaspoon
garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon
onion powder
1/2 teaspoon
sea salt
1/2 teaspoon
freshly ground black pepper
pinch
cayenne (optional)

BBQ sauce
honey to drizzle before serving (optional)
  1. Mix together the seasonings and spices to make the smoky rub.
  2. Pat drumsticks dry and toss with olive oil.
  3. Coat the drumsticks evenly with the smoky rub, making sure each piece is well seasoned.
  4. Preheat the grill to 375-400°F with 2 heat zones.
  5. Place the drumsticks on indirect heat, close the lid and cook for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally.
  6. Move the drumsticks over direct heat for 3-5 minutes to crisp and lightly char the skin.
  7. Brush with BBQ sauce during the final 1-2 minutes of grilling. (Optional: add a light drizzle of honey for a subtle sweet finish.)
  8. Remove from the grill when the internal temperature reaches 175-185°F for tender, juicy meat.
  9. Let rest a few minutes before serving.
