Since 1989, the city of Charlotte has gathered every spring to celebrate food and wine to raise money for charities. Charlotte Food & Wine Weekend has brought over $5 million to local organizations in the last thirty years, and this year’s main event promises to continue those charitable efforts.

This year, Charlotte Wine & Food proceeds will benefit Charlotte Concerts, The Council for Children’s Rights, Mitchell’s Fund, Pat’s Place Family Advocacy, and The Relatives. Each organization operates in line with the event’s focus: to “nourish the whole child in body, mind and spirit.” (Source)

The weekend is comprised of food and wine-focused events starting with private in-home dinners on April 24. On Thursday, April 25, a handful of top Charlotte restaurants will pair up with wine makers to host vintner dinners. Participating restaurants are Aria Tuscan Grill, Barrington’s, BLT Steak, Bonterra, Corkbuzz, Fin & Fino, FR Custom Catering, Napa on Providence, Porcupine Provisions, The Capital Grille, and The Fig Tree. Some dinners are already sold out, so check out the website to purchase remaining tickets now.

On Friday, April 26, folks from Charlotte and beyond will gather for the Grand Tasting and Silent Auction at Atrium (Two Wells Fargo Center) from 6:30 – 9:30 PM. Over 100 wines will be available for sampling as well as beer from Bold Missy Brewery, Catawba Brewing Co., and Divine Barrel Brewing. Delicious bites will be served by the following restaurants: Bulla Gastrobar, Corkbuzz, Fin & Fino, Hawkers Asian Street Food, Mimosa Grill, ROOTS Café, Stoke, Sweet Lew’s BBQ, Upstream, WP Kitchen + Bar, Zinicola, and Swirl Bakery. Tickets are $125 per person plus tax (or $75 each for young professionals under 35.)

The party continues on Saturday, April 27 with wine seminars at various locations followed by The Lucky 13 Experience. Sixty guests will attend the 1000-point tasting at Barings Sky Room then move to Aria Tuscan Grill for the 300-point wine dinner and live auction. Tickets are currently sold out, but interested guests can email Charlotte Wine & Food to be added to the waitlist.
