SoBro just got a little more with the opening of Fat Kat Slim’s, a new restaurant that bills itself as “Nashville’s only Kustom Kulture Joint.” Taking over the spot at the corner of 8th Avenue South and Division Street previously occupied by Pour House, Fat Kat Slim’s represents a complete overhaul of the building and concept.

Inspired by the iconic diners of the 1950’s, Fat Kat Slim’s boasts a dramatic decor featuring lots of neon and bold colors and prints on the walls. The classic diner furnishings are also showcased with their crisp, clean lines and lots of chrome. A performance stage offers space for live bands, especially local rockabilly acts to entertain diners.

The culinary team at Fat Kat Slim’s comes from their sister restaurant Earnest Bar & Hideaway, (formerly known as Hemingway’s). Chef Larry Carlile made the move over to head up the kitchen and has created a menu of elevated diner classics, including breakfast all day and lunch and dinner stalwarts such as burgers, meatloaf and fried chicken.

Co-owners Manny Hatz, Paul Cercone, Christopher Weber, and Bonnie Valentine are proud of their new creation, and Weber has brought his mixologist talents to the new venture. Already acclaimed for his creative cocktails at Earnest, Weber has developed a tight list of drinks for Fat Kat Slim’s, including a half dozen featured House Martinis.

Fat Kat Slim’s opens every day at 11:00 am and serves until 1:00 am, 3:00 am on Friday and Saturday.
