take it easy on thanksgiving by ordering your pie or taking the family out

Not everyone enjoys all that goes with Thanksgiving. How many servings will this turkey make? What if it’s too dry? What about my vegan cousin? Did we buy enough wine? Here are a few spots open on Thanksgiving with plenty of food, wine, gravy, and zero clean up.

If the family won’t go for that, you can at least skip the dessert process and purchase pies ahead of time. We included some delicious options.

5Church

Don’t practice the art of war at the table by talking politics. Instead, read it on the painted ceiling of Midtown’s 5Church. They are serving up a Thanksgiving buffet with slow roasted prime rib, sage rubbed turkey, corn soufflé, sweet potato casserole and collard greens. And there will be pie. $65 Adults, $18 children. Noon to 8 P.M.

Atkins Park

Atkins Park has been serving for 95 years, so they know how to set a table. They are smoking the bird on a Big Green Egg and serving the smoked breast with caramelized apple and sage stuffing and cider gravy. Not a fan of turkey? There is also a choice of braised pork shoulder with roasted root vegetables and bourbon glaze. Sweet potato biscuits can sop the gravy and there will be pie. Adults are $30. Kids under 10 are $10. Doors open at 4 P.M.

(794 N. Highland Avenue, Virginia Highland; 404-876-7249, atkinspark.com)

Hampton + Hudson

Need to get away from it all and watch some football? Inman Quarter’s Hampton + Hudson opens at 6:00 p.m. with all the games, no flipping channels needed. They are serving a limited menu with lots of drink specials…and there is always pie.

Livingston Restaurant and Bar

The Grand Ballroom of Livingston, located in the historic Georgian Terrace hotel, is a lovely way to bring family together. The brunch buffet includes carving stations with cajun roasted turkey breast and pepper crusted prime rib, sautéed haricots verts with pomegranate, oven roasted Brussels sprouts, and rainbow carrots. Two of the loveliest words will also be nearby: dessert buffet. Adults are $52. Children under 12 are $26 and kids 3 and under are free.

STK Atlanta

Instead of chopping and basting all day, spend your time getting dressed up for the sleek surroundings of Midtown’s STK. Choose your time of celebration. Dinner is served from noon to 10:00 p.m.

(1075 Peachtree Street, Atlanta; 404-793-0144, stkhouse.com)

Southern Art and Bourbon Bar

Chef Art Smith promises a true Southern feast with a “one of a kind menu” at Southern Art with family-friendly stations. From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the buffet brunch, guests can visit carving, cheese, ham, seasonal sides, and bread and pastry stations. Live music will set the mood. Bonus: the swanky bar menu lists more than 70 bourbons. Adults are $105. Kids 4-12 are $55. Tiny diners under 4 are free.
