what it means: no antibiotics ever!

Have you ever wondered what the “No Antibiotics” claim on your chicken package means and why it’s so important?

Some companies feed their chickens antibiotics to promote growth. This has led to the over use of antibiotics and has created a resistance to the treatment of the diseases for which they were intended. Our chickens don’t need antibiotics to grow and stay healthy. Providing the chickens with a high quality diet and focusing on sound animal husbandry (increased space, reduced stress, high levels of sanitation) eliminates the need for antibiotics.

On meat & poultry labels, the US Department of Agriculture requires that a “no antibiotics” claim means that the animals were never given any antibiotics at any point either in their feed, in their water, or by injection.

Springer Mountain Farms has always raised our chickens without antibiotics & we were pioneers in the poultry industry in the area of raising animals without them!
