what it means: no hormones ever

Springer Mountain Farms chickens have no added hormones ever. In fact, no chicken sold or raised in the U.S. is given any added hormones. The USDA banned all hormones and steroids in poultry in the 1950s. No hormones or steroids are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for use in poultry, and doing so via the water, feed or injection is specifically prohibited by law.

So why do we do we add that to our label? Because other animals produced for food are still allowed to be given hormones to promote growth, many consumers aren’t aware that it has been outlawed in poultry production for over 70 years.

Sound animal husbandry contributes to the healthier growth of our chickens. Springer Mountain Farms goes above and beyond industry standards by carefully monitoring their diet by our staff nutritionist, providing top notch flock health from our veterinary staff and by our farm families creating stress-free living conditions as part of the American Humane Certified™ farm program, verified by regular, independent, third-party audits of all farms. American Humane is the oldest and most trusted advocate of animal welfare in the country. Springer Mountain Farms was the first brand of chicken in the world to be American Humane Certified™.
